UPMC Altoona has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Specialist in the Administation office at Station Medical Center located in Altoona.
This is a full time position Monday though Friday with flexible daytime hours!
Purpose:
The Quality Specialist uses reporting data and other measures to work with clinical teams and physicians to support office work flow and to ensure the highest quality of care to our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Identifes care gaps associated with quality indicators. Tracks compliance.
- Aggregates and reports data based on project requirements.
- Participates in quality projects.
- Analyzes and summarizes care gaps by understanding clinical chart documentation and clinical quality initiatives.
- Applies knowledge of documentation methodologies and coding rubrics.
- Reviews and extracts patient information from the medical record.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Medical Assistant Certification required.
- Licensed Practical Nurse Preferred.
- 3 years of applicable experience preferably in medical terminology, billing, or coding.
- Ability to work effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. Works independently or with teams.
- Exemplary critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities need to apply analytical and statistical processes for outcome reporting.
- Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
- Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting.
- Ability to work with various computer applications.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Medical Assistant
