UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Administer and direct programs to maintain buildings, grounds, equipment and utilities to assure a safe environment for patients, personnel and visitors. Develop and maintain s department in order to operate a healthy, clean, safe and secure facility. The primary purpose is to ensure all departments/units are clean and safe and comply with all regulatory agencies.


  • Manage all functions relating to Facilities Management.
  • Ensure adequate provision of utilities for all facility buildings.
  • Responsible for the waste management program.
  • Establish department goals, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of regulatory compliance: ADA, JCAHO, State.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels to ensure hospital cleanliness.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of regulatory compliance: ADA, JCAHO, State.
  • Responsible for preparation and operation within the department budget. Responsible for the overall maintenance of the buildings and equipment. Responsible for staff orientation, continuing education, evaluations and competencies. Responsible for effective maintenance of department inventory and supplies.
  • Inspect building and utility systems to determine need for alteration and repair on a periodic basis to project and schedule needed maintenance.




  • Bachelor's degree required; preferred in Engineering, Business Administration, Architecture or related field.
  • Progressive working experience in engineering field.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in healthcare setting.
  • Five years previous Managerial experience.
  • Good people skills, communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Department of Health Labor and Industry/JCAHO codes and regulations.
  • Blueprint reading, mechanical drawing skills required.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of power tools and various hospital equipment (boilers, chillers, etc.).
  • Computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety/security procedures.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
HVACR Technician Certification preferred.
