Description

Purpose:

UPMC Pinnacle is currently hiring a Full Time Community Paramedic for the Community Paramedicine Program. The Community Paramedic is responsible for staffing the daily operations of the Community Paramedicine Program as directed by the Community Health RN Director. Will perform home visits as directed, and assist with program development as required. The Paramedic fulfills education and experiential requirements as established by the Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned. Supports and upholds the mission, goals, and objectives, of the UPMC system at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Carries out home visits with patients as directed.
  • Contacts Community Health Manager and/or Medical Director with any concerns observed in the field.
  • Completes documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Participates in scheduled and unscheduled outreach activities, representing the UPMC system.
  • When on duty, dresses in a manner consistent with the established uniform policy.
  • Completes assigned duties with the highest degree of responsibility and professionalism.
  • Ensures that all CP equipment and vehicles are clean and restocked in a timely manner.
  • Actively participates in quality assurance audits as may be required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with patients; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship; regardless of circumstances, environment, or patient presentation.
  • Performs duties according to CP policies and procedures.
  • Assists with any additional duties as requested.
  • Maintains all required continuing education in accordance with UPMC, LifeTeam and State requirements based on level of certification.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Paramedic required.
  • Minimum of 1-year EMS pre-hospital experience at the Advanced Life Support provider level preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Word/Excel.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management, EMTs/paramedics, and program participants.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel to any base site as assigned.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Paramedic certification required.
  • Driver's License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Act 31 with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI clearance with renewal
