Description
The Regulation of Emotion in Autistic Adults, Children, and Teens (REAACT) Lab is seeking for a full time Systems Programmer/Analyst for several interconnected research projects focused on understanding factors that improve mental health and reduce the risk of suicide in autistic adults. This position will support an NIH Autism Center of Excellence (ACE) project. More information about the REAACT program can be found here: www.reaact.pitt.edu. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and organizing data management tasks across research projects, developing procedures for data tracking, scoring, and cleaning, managing large relational databases, developing data reports, and assisting with data sharing submissions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses the ability to quickly learn and use new programming and data management skills. Experience with programming (e.g., in MATLAB and/or R, as well as Access) is preferred.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
- Perform oversight and coordination for data management operations across research projects
- Work collaboratively with the Department of Psychiatry Office of Academic Computing
- Set up and manage large relational databases (e.g., in Access)
- Develop data-entry forms
- Provide quality assurance of all aspects of data management including data flow, verification, security and confidentiality
- Program prompts and reminders related to assessment timepoints
- Design and implement data-tracking systems
- Use programming skills to develop and apply data cleaning algorithms
- Create reports for quality control and to summarize participant data flow
- Create (and routinely update) datasets for statistical analysis
- Submit data to the NIMH twice per year for data sharing requirements
- Trouble shooting of applications, data entry forms, and databases
- Compile data across modalities (i.e., questionnaire, physiological arousal, ecological momentary assessment)
- Support temporal linking between different data streams on different timescales for ecological momentary assessment project
- Assist with statistical analysis when needed
- Perform any other study-related needs that that Principal Investigator may request
- Attend study team meetings and participate in phone calls
- Ability to work independently with little supervision once trained.
- Perform other duties as related to the research project as requested by the Principle Investigators, coordinator, and/or supervisors.
- May assist in other studies with additional duties as new grants are funded
- Must be able to juggle and prioritize tasks and keep open communication with the Principal Investigator and supervisors to ensure timely completion of all duties
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Available to work evenings and/or weekends.
- Collaborate in the design and maintenance of server database systems.
- Assist in statistical analysis for projects.
- Assist in training department personnel on tools used to capture, enter and track data.
- Collaborate in the development and dissemination of data management and tracking programs necessary for protocols.
- Troubleshoot applications.

Qualifications
- Typically has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering
OR
- has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience.
- Has mastered the essential knowledge base for an IT professional.
- Has mastered the essential IT principles and analytical rules that guide their application in practical situations.
- Experience with programming (e.g., in MATLAB and/or R, as well as Access)
- Able to perform basic/standard IT procedures and protocols.
- Relies on buddy system/coach to demonstrate applied skills and to guide non-routine actions.
- Higher education (Bachelors/Masters) may be required per Grants
