Supervisor of Insurance & Risk Management will work directly with department management, and within the department, to maintain databases that organize various insured exposures to price, exposures, coverages, physician insurability, claim history, and measure change.  Will be responsible to maintain and continue to develop as necessary a comprehensive filing and record retrieval system for the department to facilitate timely requests for information retrieval and sharing. This will include incoming and outflowing certificate of insurance activity. The Supervisor will coordinate with carriers, brokers and MCare to report changes in exposure to determine statutory premiums and coverage for professional services facilities and individuals. Oversee the coordination and handling of Discovery requirements on suits with external legal teams. Work with Third Party Administrator to accurately produce Liability (Professional and General) loss runs on a quarterly basis. Interacts with Corporate Real Estate, insurance brokers, insurance carriers and property owners to reflect Commercial Property exposures system wide.


  • Supervise and coordinates departmental personnel to assure efficient, non-duplicating program development.
  • Must be tactful, diplomatic, and able to communicate convincingly on all levels.
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Complete insurance renewal applications.
  • Oversee insurance service function to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Research information requested to respond to Discovery in litigated claims.
  • Generate ad hoc trending reports.
  • Oversees the timely response to requests for insurance verifications, claim histories, insurance applications, and underwriting data of internal professional employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Completes assignments on a timely basis.
  • Assists/Supports the Director of Risk Management as needed.



  • BA or equivalent work experience in insurance industry, insurance agency, legal field or healthcare related experience. Paralegal or related experience in legal liability.
  • Associate or related experience in claims management certification. 5 years risk management experience or related knowledge in integrated healthcare system.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills required. Able to prioritize work tasks. Computer proficiency in various PC software packages such as 3M and Microsoft products (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Epic.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Understands system-wide insurance products, services, and markets. Understands the process to deliver and account for insurance service requests. Able to work well with individuals, internally and externally, presenting with allegations and claims. Ability to create new work flows in the department to increase efficiency and manage increasing insurance service volume. Excellent communication skills. Excellent writing skills.
