Description

Manage all operational aspects of the practice sites to ensure quality patient care.

Adolescent Medicine services patients from ages 12-26 throughout multiple areas in our region. This position also oversees the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and is an excellent opportunity to partner with our community members that we serve.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure appropriate and high quality staffing through the strategic placement of office coordinators, office and practice managers.
  • Supervise and oversee practice budgets.
  • Develop and maintain a patient-centric culture, centered around patient arrival and follow up activities in line with the consumerism initiatives, if applicable.
  • Serve as liaison to various UPMC departments and resources.
  • Serve as liaison for renovations, construction and building utilization with UPMC and outside construction services.
  • Develop strategic plans for practices.
  • Monitor practice operations to identify areas for improvement, expansion of services, and potential new market areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all UPMC policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, physicians and peers through oral and written communications.
  • Assist in the due diligence, practice valuations, contract negotiations and staffing as required.
  • Assist in physician relations as necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge initiatives as it relates to the operation of the practices.
  • Oversee and assist in the recruitment of staff and new practices.
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of current procedures and plans with Office/Practice Manager and Physician to develop and implement new, more efficient systems and procedures as required to improve office operations.
  • Monitor and meet practice specific benchmarks inclusive of point of service and scheduling (inclusive of template management for timely patient access), if applicable.
  • Administers the day-to-day operations of the practice plan operations. Promotes the effective and timely communication of information within the department/division(s).
  • Monitors clinical productivity of the practice and develops and implements process improvement programs for clinical operations to include patient access, patient flow, charge entry, etc. Works with providers, practice clinicians and scheduling staff to
  • Hires, orients, and monitors performance of personnel. Provides instruction concerning goals, mission, policies, procedures and work standards. Ensures that all clinical employees meet their licensure requirements, and that all employees meet their year
  • Ensures a positive customer service atmosphere and interactions within practice through ongoing training, development, and monitoring of staff. Seeks physician and staff feedback to ensure interactions are appropriate
  • Develops and oversees office capital and operating budgets. Allocates and authorizes appropriate expenditures. Manages area of responsibility to meet budget targets and accomplish fiscal objectives.
  • Manages the professional fee revenue cycle including charge lag, denial management, encounters without charges, co-pay collection, etc. Manage areas of responsibility (along with Research Administration) for departmental research or other grant revenue.

 

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in health or business administration and 1 year of office management experience including (1) one year in a health care organization.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in health or business administration and (3) three years of office management experience including one year in a health care organization.
  • OR Associate's Degree in health or business administration and 8 years of office management experience including one year in a health care organization.
  • OR High School Diploma and 8 years of office management experience including one year in a health care organization .


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
