UPMC Health Plan is seeking a full-time Senior Marketing Analyst to support the Marketing and Communications Department within the UPMC Insurance Services Division.

This position has the opportunity to work remotely, but with a major preference for East Coast location due to business needs. The Senior Marketing Analyst will work standard daylight (EST) hours, Monday through Friday.

The Senior Marketing Analyst provides leadership and support to the development and delivery of strategic, data-driven marketing solutions and intelligence to effectively and efficiently aggregate, analyze, and synthesize data across campaigns, leads, opportunities, accounts, and contacts. This directly impacts and creates the ability to obtain reliable marketing analytics and customer insights while identifying opportunities to optimize channel effectiveness and improve ROI.

The Senior Marketing Analyst must use their knowledge and expert understanding of demand generation data derived from numerous sources to meet business objectives by applying expertise in marketing automation, sales automation, and data integration/warehousing to develop, deliver, and manage workflows and data quality that powers traditional and digital marketing initiatives. These functions must be done while also weighing the practical considerations and potential barriers that need to be overcome to successfully implement new programs and processes.


  • Analyze and identify key drivers of campaign success and use this knowledge to optimize segmentation and channel utilization.
  • Present findings and recommendations to key internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Marketing Campaign Managers/Strategy Managers and other data experts across the enterprise (including IT) to assist in campaign execution to meet business goals.
  • Support colleagues within Marketing and other functional areas of the business to rapidly apply subject matter expertise to help expedite elimination of manual ETL efforts wherever possible in favor of direct integrations and complete automation between systems.
  • Assist in developing new and maintaining existing market automation and intelligence platform(s) and models to drive better analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Develop baseline metrics with which to compare relative success of marketing campaigns.
  • Perform additional ad hoc analysis, as needed, and other related duties, as assigned.
  • Leverage and integrate disparate data sources, including external third-party and internal data (member/employer/provider) sources.
  • Strong understanding of all facets of the analytics process (strategy, tracking, reporting, analysis, actionable recommendations).
  • Perform analyses and/or make recommendations concerning marketing, engagement, and customer experience strategy and tactics.
  • Develop subject matter expert (SME)-level understandings of campaign data sources, processes, systems, data standards, and data integration methods used to support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) functions across various marketing systems and platforms.
  • Support marketing and engagement campaign-related activities from inception to implementation, including defining targeting efforts and calculating ROI.
  • Identify, evaluate, and share views on competitive marketing campaign tactics.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Analytics, Market Research, or equivalent required.
  • 4 years of experience in Marketing (preferably analysis, market research, or related experience) required.
  • Advanced process efficiency skills with extensive knowledge in Microsoft Excel and SQL.
  • Experience with statistical programming languages (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with marketing communication campaign automation tools and data integration strongly preferred, specifically with Unica and/or Salesforce. 
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred, but those with relevant experience in other industries may be considered.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize data into actionable information.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences.
  • Excellent planning, communication, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, and initiative on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment a must.
  • Experience working with minimal direction, with a keen ability to leverage business-sense to guide decision making.
