Description

Purpose:
In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, coordinates workflow, assists with projects and coordinates educational activities. Functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations. Rotates between three or more specialties.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs ultrasound diagnostic examinations in accordance with Level I and Level II Advanced sonographer.
  • Leads orientation and training for new hires, students and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame. Responsible for offering remediation with sonographers when necessary
  • Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the department while maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.
  • Assists with quality assurance projects and assists in the development of exam protocols along ide of or in place of advanced sonographers and communicates results back to departmental leadership.
  • Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of sonographer candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.
  • Assumes the leadership role in the absence of the supervisor.
  • May be responsible for High Level Disinfection of devices, supplies and/or equipment

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
  • 3 years of ultrasound experience required.
  • Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/Solid performance on last performance review.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • RDMS Registered required with active certification in 3 or more specialties.
  • CPR or BLS Preferred.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain 3 or more imaging registries/certifications and maintain competency in both as required by hiring Business Unit.
  • Must be willing and demonstrate flexibility to be assigned to any of the maintained registries by leadership.
  • Must provide flexibility to work least one off-shift (evening, nights or weekend), every 90 days as requested by imaging leadership.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
