UPMC Corporate is hiring a University Relations Recruiter to join our team!  This position will be a three month assignment with potential to extend based on department needs. 

The University Relations Recruiter is a full-time position that primarily works daylight hours, Monday through Friday.  A perk of this position includes flexible work arrangements in a hybrid work setting!

The University Relations Recruiter will focus on and be held accountable to goals for building meaningful and collaborative relationships with key partners on college and university campuses and within the business, early identification programs, and engaging with students in order to build strong talent pipelines leading to increased market capture at top target schools. The University Relations Recruiter will lead recruitment strategies for student nursing opportunities and provide a top-notch candidate and programmatic experience to ensure these goals are met.


  • Develop and initiate the most effective and innovative recruitment initiatives for connecting with and attracting student talent (including defining event strategy for University Relations book of business, etc.).
  • Serve as main point of contact for defined University Relations book of business - academic partnerships and subsequent student relationships (-OR- may support under the guidance of a University Relations Sr. Recruiter)
  • Proactively build relationships and engage with student talent pipelines with a focus on market capture.
  • Act as a resource for students exploring opportunities and seeking guidance on resume best practices, submitting applications, interviewing, etc. while, ultimately, providing a top-notch candidate experience.
  • Execute all activities for the entire recruiting cycle, including evaluating applications and/or resumes, interviewing, extending offers, onboarding communications, etc. for supported programs.
  • Execute program management with an innovative mindset and deliver a top-notch program experience. Represent UPMC at external and internal functions (i.e., job fairs, UPMC sponsored events, etc.), providing the public with information about UPMC and career opportunities.
  • Strategize with operational, clinical and HR on sources and strategies to attract student talent (-OR- may support under the guidance of a University Relations Sr. Recruiter).
  • Compile and analyze data/reports; propose recommendations based on analysis.
  • Consistently review processes, look for and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Work on multiple, concurrent projects as requested with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information received within the guidelines of professional recruitment in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. 




  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field and at least one year of recruitment experience required
  • OR High School Diploma/GED and three years of recruitment experience required.
  • Prior university relations/recruitment experience strongly preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with recruitment related software and database mining required.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
