UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a full-time Surgical Liaison to join our team on the Same Day Surgery unit!  
 
Purpose:
Assists patients, families, visitors and the staff of Surgical Services to provide the following services: provide information, triage calls, check in families, address and dispatch patient complaints, offer services and improve patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members, physicians, and staff.
  • Alert Nurse Liasion and/or Manager to potential problems.
  • Provide support and communication for patients families/visitors, surgeons and staff throughout the peri-operative process.
  • Attend all required hospital training.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the staff as a whole.
  • Follow recommended department guidelines for informing families/visitors of surgery process.
  • Provide families with information as the patient proceeds through the operating room, PACU, and other areas.
  • Ensure families are in the correct area during patients' surgery and are checked into the surgical family waiting room.
  • Ensure positive customer service atmosphere and interactions in waiting room.

 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • 1 year of experience in customer service is required.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or as a greeter preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
