UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. Senior Registered Nurse / BMA Plastics Reconstruction

Description

UPMC is seeking a Senior Registered Nurse for our Plastic Surgery office at Blair Medical Associates in Altoona! 

This position will work a Monday - Friday schedule and no weekends or holidays are required! 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with scheduling tests, treatments, and processing and receiving referrals to and from other providers.
  • Develops and implements clinical policies and procedures.
  • Translate for physicians as necessary regarding instructions, medications and diagnosis.
  • Supports and upholds established policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvements, safety, environmental controls and codes of all UPMC regulations and standards of care.
  • Prepare, stock and clean exam rooms, maintain supplies and equipment for treatment.
  • Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results.
  • Complete patient check out process.
  • Provide information on procedures and screen phone calls for physicians.
  • Respond to patient's questions and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Develops and implements short and long term work plan and objectives for clinical functions.
  • Assigns staff duties by way of verbal and/or written instruction; prepares work schedules to ensure adequate staffing in all areas of the clinical office.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Prepare patient for examination and treatment.
  • Provide patient care and treatment as directed by the physician or PA which includes wound care, cast care, brace fitting, etc. Receive and implement physician orders such as x-ray, MRI, CT, etc.
  • Creates, maintains, copies, and files patient records and other information as needed.
  • Makes recommendations for clinical staff hiring, progressive discipline and termination.
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures
  • Analyze laboratory reports and appropriate follow up care needed.
  • Prepare prescriptions upon physician order.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all elements of nursing assessment, treatments, medications and follow up care.
  • Provides feedback to be used in in the employee evaluations on a minimum of an annual basis.
  • Assist in maintaining up to date and stocked sample closet, and checking all medication for expiration.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, coworkers, and the public.
  • Establishes, maintains and improves an efficient clinical office workflow in order to ensure quality and effective patient treatment.
  • Perform selected nursing duties, history and physical, vital signs, measure/draw injections, assist in minor office procedures and maintain confidentiality.
  • Participates in the recruiting, hiring, orientation, development and evaluation of all clinical staff.
  • Develops guidelines for prioritizing work activities and evaluates their effectiveness. Modifies activities as necessary. Ensures that clinical office is staffed appropriately.

 

Qualifications

  • MSN, orBSN, or RN with at least 5 years related clinical experience, plus 2 years clinical supervisory experience


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 34
