Description

UPMC Hamot's Transportation Services department is seeking a day shift supervisor to join their team! The Supervisor of Transportation Services reports directly to the Manager of Transportation Services and ensures that the personnel transports patients in a safe, comfortable, and courteous manner to and from appropriate treatment centers and patient care units. The Supervisor will also provide direction for the efficient transportation of equipment. This position supervises Transport Monitor Techs, Lead Transporters and Mobility Technicians. This position will be scheduled Monday - Friday from 6:00AM to 2:30PM. Occasional weekend shifts will be required (1-2 per month). Responsibilities:

  • Supervise transporters and team leaders in the movement of patients and equipment to and from assigned areas. Ensures that a handoff of medication occurs with the nurse.Maintain communications with patient care unit, treatment center, central service, respiratory therapy, and laboratory supervisory personnel so that maximum efficiency of the department is achieved. Employee ensures that he/she will conduct himself/herself in a professional manner at all times.Prepare and monitor transportation department payroll sheets and time cards.Be certain that the transporters are maintaining efficient and sanitary equipment.Provide proper scheduling for all assigned shifts.Evaluate and supervise the orientation of new transportation personnel to ensure maximum growth with sufficient feedback provided.
  • Supervise the reporting and clerical activities of transportation.Incumbent will conform to attendance policiesKnow and enforce general hospital policies with respect to the transporter, team leaders and Mobility Techs. Determine avenues of corrective action when necessary.Knowledge of all safety, fire, evacuation, emergency care, and disaster policies and procedures.Perform any supplemental duties requested by the Director, Manager, or Administration relative to the efficient, safe, and responsible operation of the department.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • 2 years relevant experience required 
  • 1 year relevant leadership experience required

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
