UPMC Procirca is looking for a casual Travel Perfusionist to join their dedicated team!
The Travelling Perfusionist must be available for extensive travel to potential new clients and various Procirca accounts to provide clinical support. The Travelling Perfusionist will also assure the applicable credentials of all clinical personnel within Procirca. Responsibilities also include the coordination of clinical support personnel to assure adequate personnel coverage. Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership to and reviews the work of perfusion personnel to assure competence and compliance with established policies. Required to work closely with other BioTronics personnel in the development of new accounts, processes and procedures. In addition to the duties of Travelling Perfusionist, he/she will be required to perform the duties of a staff perfusionist. A perfusionist performs, under the supervision of technical/medical superiors and according to prescribed procedures, those functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement, or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and/or circulatory system of the patient. A perfusionist performs advanced technical work in the selection, preparation, operation and maintenance of the mechanical heart/lung machine, safety devices and accessory equipment. The perfusionist is responsible for close cooperation and consultation with attending physicians in the extracorporeal perfusion process and for the knowledge, operation and maintenance of a variety of technical perfusion equipment used in cardiac surgery as well as other circulatory support devices.
This role will support UPMC Procirca Perfusion sites, as needed by the department. With locations across the greater tri-state area, our Director of Perfusion will work with the Travelling Perfusionist to match their needs, with the willingness to travel by the Perfusionist. Further discussion regarding these locations, shifts, schedule, will be discussed during the interview process.
Responsibilities:
- Assurance of the applicable credentials and clinical competencies of all clinical personnel within the Perfusion Services Division of BioTronics.
- Develop and implement policy, process and procedure improvement for all service lines. Assist directors with preparation of performance management reports.
- Assist in the education, orientation and training of new staff, perfusion students or interested personnel. Demonstrates effective instruction and supervision of students, if applicable, by adhering to the program and clinical objectives of the UPMC School of Perfusion.
- Maintains continuing education and ABCP certification. Demonstrates ongoing acquisition of knowledge and skill by planning for and completing growth-oriented developmental activities as defined in the continuing education policy for Perfusion Services and the ABCP.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors and supports the departmental goals of quality care, system improvement and cost containment by contributing to the successful implementation of recommended changes, cost awareness and fiscal responsibility.
- Support directors in meeting regulatory compliance of TJC, State DOH, CAP, and AABB.
- Supports Procirca contractual obligations with various institutions by contributing to the successful execution of those services.

- Manage STO schedule with support from site directors
- Update job descriptions and clinical competencies to reflect new technologies, processes or procedures that Procirca perfusion personnel provide.
- Maintain proficiency with cardio-pulmonary bypass procedures, equipment, and associated accessory equipment and proficiency with procedures such as cell saving, rapid infusion system (RIS), intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation, production of concentrated platelet rich plasma (PRP) as well as other technical advancements in the perfusion field.
- Development and maintenance of new accounts.
- To serve as a role model of excellent clinical quality and customer service by responding constructively and efficiently to the needs of the personnel and clients that he/she interacts with.
- Provide perfusion support for VAD/ECMO patients transported via fixed wing and rotary aircraft
- Provide relief support as a staff perfusionist to Procirca perfusion, blood management, and chemoperfusion accounts
- Coordination of relief personnel to assure that the appropriate levels of staffing required at various BioTronics accounts are met.

Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor of Science Degree Graduate of an accredited school of cardiovascular perfusion (or OJT and current ABCP certification)
- Advanced knowledge /proficiency in perfusion procedures, anatomy, physiology and pertinent equipment
- Minimum 3 years of Clinical Experience as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist
- Ability to adapt to change in order to meet the goals of Procirca or institution(s) serviced
- Preferred:General computer skills to include Word, Excel, Power Point and database management

Required: Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Current, valid drivers licensePennsylvania: ABCP certification must be obtained within 2 years of commencement of perfusionist?s employment at PAhospital as per PA Code 136.14Current perfusion license
