Description

UPMC Health Plan is seeking a full-time Data Specialist to support the Marketing and Communications Department at the U.S. Steel Tower in Downtown Pittsburgh!

The Data Specialist will work daylight hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and will directly support Medicare Marketing!

The Data Specialist performs a variety of moderately complex clerical functions requiring the exercise of judgment and knowledge of the office's systems and procedures. This position is the primary contact for the administration, operation, maintenance, and reporting of software and databases for the department. Day-to-day work will involve the use of a computer terminal or other standard office systems and equipment.

The ideal candidate for this position will have proficient computer skills and data entry/report experience, with strong attention to detail!


Responsibilities:

  • Classify, cross-index, and file materials such as correspondence, requisitions, reports, technical documents, and so forth, which require a sound knowledge of the office or department filing and retrieval needs.
  • Daily sorting and processing of business reply card responses into the database.
  • Digitally request literature for fulfillment.
  • Database entry of any/all seminar responses into the CRM.
  • Scan completed work into digital image portal.
  • Use assigned reporting to assist with database integrity.
  • Review existing records and make corrections, as needed
  • Assist in formulating, administering, and maintaining departmental policies and procedures, and notify staff of additions or modifications.
  • Gather data from a variety of sources and prepare standardized reports involving a factual representation of the data obtained.
  • Ensure adherence to departmental staffing guidelines.
  • Manipulate computer databases involved with the preventive maintenance system to include entering, editing, deleting, and indexing records from various files.
  • Answer telephone and/or receive visitors to the department.
  • Receive requests for regular maintenance services, taking and relaying messages and dispensing routine information.
  • Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.
  • Assist with the design of some new forms for the department.
  • Other tasks, as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree with 2 years of data management experience preferred, or 4 years of data management experience.
    • Ability to sufficiently evaluate data needs and implement and maintain systems to develop successful solutions to issues.
  • Knowledge of data entry operations, document processing, CRM databases, and/or health information management preferred. 
  • Ability to logically research documentation errors or record retrieval problem situations.
  • Proficient typing accuracy at a reasonable speed necessary to complete forms.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of MS Office software, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Regular interpersonal contact with department staff and customers.
  • Basic multitasking skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and a high degree of rational thinking preferred.
  • Willingness/eager-to-learn attitude and eye for detail preferred.
