WCA Services is seeking a Dispatcher - Level I to join their team! This is a full time position and will work rotating day and night shifts. Some weekends will be required as well. The Dispatcher - Level I operates communication equipment to receive incoming calls for assistance and dispatches personnel and equipment to scene of emergency via radio or other electronic means. Other tasks include:
- Scheduling of numerous non-emergency transports for ambulance and wheelchair divisions.
- Obtains appropriate information to facilitate insurance or payment processes.
- Keyboarding skills to perform computer aided dispatch and map street search and filing.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible to call-in personnel in times of urgent need per crew chief?s instructions.
- Communicates with WCA security re Starflight, JMHC transfers and general safety.
- Fills open staffing shifts in the absence of staffing coordinator.
- Communicates with Crew Chiefs and other supervisors re system status needs.
- Communicates with PSAP?s and other Public safety entities.
- Monitors WCA alarm system and takes appropriate action as required.
- Maintains sufficient knowledge of billing practices to process calls for service.
- Able to access mission critical data for Starflight, MCI?s etc.
- Handles all communications with proper radio/telephonic etiquette and courtesy.
- Efficiently receives and handles incoming phone and radio requests for service.
- Dispatches appropriate resources in response to requests via radio, phone or pager.
- Responsible for intake of call requests and scheduling for future service.
- Receives radio calls from outside ambulance services for `patching? to the WCA ED.
- Enters calls / data into computer system.
Qualifications
- NYS CFR, EMT, medical terminology or similar medical background preferred.
- Must attend communications staff meetings as requested.
- Must have good interpersonal skills.
- Be able to pleasantly and efficiently handle radio and telephonic calls for service.
- Must have a working knowledge of basic 'Windows' based computer programs to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Frequent contact with 911 Centers, physicians, EMS/Fire Personnel (paid or volunteer), police agencies, aeromedical personnel, MTS Division staff, patients and families.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Must have and maintain CPR for the professional Rescuer (AHA or equivalent) within 30.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
