Description
Dr. César Escobar-Viera, PhD, MD, from the Department of Psychiatry and Director of the Program for Internet Delivered Interventions on LGBTQ+ Mental Health (PRIDE iM) at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Project Assistant to join a team that conducts health equity research at the intersections of social media, applied technology, and mental health. The incumbent will join PRIDE iM, a research initiative in the department of psychiatry that focuses on leveraging digital technology to improve the mental health of sexual and gender minority populations (i.e., LGBTQ+, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer). The incumbent will (1) Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) (2) Share responsibility of managing the day-to-day activities for the research project, (3) Handle project specific tasks as needed (see PRIDE iM Preferences section).
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities
- Handle both administrative and research job duties as needed for research protocol(s).
- Handle all special projects for research protocol(s).
- Collaborate in all recruitment activities of research subjects.
- Share responsibility of managing the day-to-day activities for the research project.
- Assist the project coordinator in coordinating flow of participants through the project, including screening, tracking contacts and attendance, and maintaining current information on how to contact participants, etc.
- Assist the project coordinator with participant payments as needed.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PRIDE iM Preferences:
- Experience using social media for maintaining communications, targeted outreach, study recruitment, as well as for updating (i.e., posting) on PRIDE iM social media accounts and website.
- Experience creating educational materials for diverse youth (sexual and gender minorities, race, ethnicity, physical ability)
- Experience using existing online platforms (e.g., Animaker, Vyond, Canva) to create videos and/or infographics for dissemination of educational and research content.
- Experience with scientific writing, editing, and formatting for scientific journals, and previous experience with reference manager software.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology, or related research field.
- Minimum of two years of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required. Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
- Prior supervisory and/or project management experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
