UPMC Presbyterian, a Magnet-designated hospital, is currently hiring a Full-Time Outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse to support the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department.
About the Position:
The Diabetes and Endocrinology department at UPMC Presbyterian is the largest endocrinology practice in the United States. Some of our many specializations include Diabetes, Endocrinology, Thyroid Management, Pituitary, and much more. We support procedures such as Thyroid Biopsies and Resting Metabolic Expenditure testing. We also will soon be expanding our department to Radio Frequency Ablation. Our credentials speak for themselves! We lead the Department of Medicine in Econsults and pride ourselves on our fast-growing department. Our department dynamic allows a flexible schedule, as well as work-from-home options. Schedule:

A minimum of 16 hours worked in the office per pay period is required.

This position allows work from home when it’s conducive to office hourly requirements.

Responsibilities:

Draw blood.
-
Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).

Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM, and IV drips.

Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.

Assess the patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.

Comply with all policies and procedures.

Perform IV therapy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.

Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.

Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, and communicating physician advice/instructions.
Qualifications
-
Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.

One-year of clinical experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
-
CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
