Description
Purpose:
Assist with day to day tasks, flow and other organizational responsibilities of the department and Registry team. Provides assistance with preparation and organization of weekly cancer conferences, quarterly cancer committee meetings and case findings. Assists with abstracting into the Registry software, patient follow-up and identification of missing cases for Pennsylvania state cancer registry reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily case-finding review and abstraction of all reportable pathology reports including follow-up information on all cases.
- Review Pennsylvania state annual death index and reconciliation list for missing cases.
- Provide assistance with weekly and quarterly oncology meetings, including preparation of meeting

- Provide assistance with weekly and quarterly oncology meetings, including preparation of meeting packets and Power Points, scheduling, typing of recorded minutes, CME data collection and data processing.

- Review Social Security Death Index and other sources for expired patients and enter date into the Registry software.
- Know and follow all organizational/departmental policies/procedures.
- Track all patients seen for lung cancer screening to include in organization reports and for data entry into electronic database.
- Assume responsibility for personal development and education.
- Commit to high quality, safe work; encourage others to have similar standards. Identify processes/systems that could lead to inefficient practices, unsafe conditions, errors or adverse events. Avoid shortcuts to ensure quality and safety measures are not circumvented. Encourage patient and family involvement in processes involving patient safety. Qualifications
- Two years of healthcare experience involving the use and understanding of medical terminology required
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Tumor Registrar Certification required within three years of hire
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
