STAR Clinic is a world-renowned clinic, specializing in evidence-based assessment and treatment for depressed, anxious, suicidal teens and undergraduate college students. We have outpatient and IOP levels of care and provide a multidisciplinary treatment team approach. We are located in Bellefield Towers in Oakland.
We are looking for a nurse who will collaborate with our psychiatrists in the assessment and treatment planning for our patients; assist with medication authorizations, submitting electronic prescriptions and clinical interventions and documentation.
The hire for this position will collaborate with Psychiatrists in the assessment and treatment planning as well as assist with insurance authorizations and documentation. Prior experience with depressed, anxious and suicidal adolescents in young adults is strongly preferred. This is a part-time position, weekdays, 830a-5p.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as liaison between disciplines, departments, and hospitals for assigned patientsParticipates in interdisciplinary meetings and other activitiesMaintains professional communication with multidisciplinary team membersAble to interface with various members of multidisciplinary team members to coordinate all aspects of patient care.
- Maintain competency requirementsAttend a minimum of 2 unit based inservices yearlyAttend a minimum of 6 educational meetings offered within Institute or Outside ProgramUtilize up to date practices/information in delivery of patient carePerforms in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviorsPerforms other duties as assigned.
- Coordinates daily care for assigned teamAssesses client from holistic perspective.Have knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and be able to differentiate diagnosis on assigned patients.Rounds daily on team of assigned patients and/or discuss patients with treatment teamCoordinates patient follow-up discharge plans and medical plans with Social Work and Primary Medicine respectively.Monitors psychiatric, medical, psychosocial status of assigned team.Actively participates in treatment team meetings. Provides patient/family education around psychiatric medication/diagnosis as needed.Initiates or reviews admission paperwork of all assigned patientsCompletes documentation according to established policies and in timely fashion
- Role Models professional practice and provides mentorship/preceptorship for clinicians.Oversights Nurse Clinicians and Nurse Clinical Specialist for practice complianceResponsible/leads monthly Nurse Clinician meeting.Coordinates and Develops the Nurse Clinician education annual series based on Learning needs of group.Maintains/follows meeting minutes and educational binder for clinicians. Leads key initiatives for Clinicians and represents Clinicians in meetings as assigned.Provides education and consultation regarding psychiatric treatment, management, and psychopharmacology for staffCoordinates and facilitates with MD and treatment team direct admissions and DEC admissions as assignedParticipates in on-going review and development and provision of Group Programming for the unitLeads routine therapeutic patient groupsHas good organizational skills that leads to effective time management.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Nursing .
- Minimum of three years relevant behavioral health experience.
- Two years Advance Practice Clinician .
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ANCC certification as CNS or ANPPA RN License requiredCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
