Description

UPMC is hiring a Journeyman 1 - Painter to join the Maintenance and Facilities Team! This full-time role will work primarily daylight shift but may be required to work variable shifts as needed.  

Responsibilities:

  • Assist carpenters in construction projects, stud walls, hang drywall, demolition, installation of grid work, rile and acoustical ceilings.
  • Custom surface finishing, grouting, installation and setting of ceramic tile, stone and marble; repair/replacement of existing materials.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  • Mix and apply paint at the rate of 2,000 square feet per eight-hour day on smooth or pre-finished walls/1,200 square feet per eight-hour day on rough walls, including but not restricted to concrete or masonry block, rough plaster, acoustical tile and others of similar texture.
  • Perform all work following infection control procedures, including setting up appropriate level of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level and maintaining the integrity of that containment.
  • Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized.
  • Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized.
  • Perform fire barrier preventive maintenance and maintain code knowledge base.
  • Perform minor repair jobs on walls, floor leveling and surface preparation/masonry repairs as needed before painting.
  • Record personal work orders and submit hours on a daily basis.
  • Refinish furniture, stain, lacquer, paint and polish.
  • May be required to travel to other UPMC locations as needed

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of painting experience working in a healthcare, institutional or commercial building environment.
  • Experience on fast paced construction projects prefered. 


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
 

  • Driver's License
  • Act 34
