Purpose:
Western Psychiatric Hospital’s Mobile Mental Health Therapy Department (MMHT) is in search of a Behavioral Health Counselor to add to the team!
Our Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) provides mobile assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of a behavior modification intervention plan, which is individualized to each consumer. BHC will provide direct clinical service and support to consumers in the community. Services are provided as prescribed by psychiatrist and in accordance with applicable regulations.
MMHT consists of 8 mental health professionals/therapists who work directly with consumers in the community. MMHT consumers must have a psychiatric of physical illness that impedes ability to attend traditional, clinic-based outpatient therapy. MMHT therapists have received numerous accolades for their work in the community, including but not limited to: good catch awards, ACES, and President’s award. MMHT team is a tight knit group who meets regularly for treatment team meetings as well as team bonding activities.
Therapists and Counselors have the option to work from home when not visiting clients within the community!
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for paperwork and participates in interagency team meetings. Completes all necessary department documentation per established policies.
- Facilitate the resolution of any problematic issue related to service delivery.
- Participate in necessary trainings related to the provision of services.
- Conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and design a Positive Behavior Support Plan based upon the assessment, under the direction of the program manager or supervisor.
- Assist with care coordination as needed to ensure the highest quality of care to clients and families. Facilitate referrals for other clinical services during treatment and at discharge.
- Provide individual and family therapy in a community and/or inpatient/outpatient setting.
- Conduct ongoing evaluations of behavior plans after implementation to assess if plans need to be updated.
- Provide direct clinical supervision to assigned staff. Modes of supervision include: individual, group and onsite supervision. Treatment team meetings also will be conducted.
- Demonstrate knowledge of behavior support techniques and skills to aid in the development of individualized behavior plans.
- Ensure behavior plans are implemented with fidelity by staff to maximize effectiveness.
- Provide direct care to assigned patients.
- Actively participate, coordinate, and liaison with other services.
- Demonstrate knowledge of structured clinical assessment tools including specific measures of psychiatric symptomatology, family functioning, and academic achievement with an ability to communicate results and recommended course of treatment to families and other professionals.
- Develop expertise in child/adolescent/adult psychopathology, crisis intervention / de-escalation techniques, and behavioral therapy.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Psychology; Child Development; Applied Behavior Analysis; Early Intervention; Education; Special Education; Instruction in Learning; Social Work or a related field.
- One year of clinical experience preferred.
- At least one year of mental health direct care experience preferred.
- Knowledge of behavior principles, evaluation and assessment process, as well as application of current version of the DSM preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Behavior Specialist Licensure and/or Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, National Certified Counselor, Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner or other similar Behavioral Health license/certification preferred.
