Purpose:
The UPMC Application Engineering Consumer Technology department is a large and diverse team, responsible for the requirements, development, testing, and support of custom software solutions for UPMC Health Plan’s Insurance Services Division. Our digital assets include numerous public websites, secure web portals, native mobile applications, and APIs/web services integrations. We are currently seeking a QA Test Automation Software Engineer- Associate to join the UPMC MyHealth mobile application team in support of new feature development on both Android and iOS platforms.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in Scrum meetings and processes, analyze requirements, and plan/estimate QA efforts
- Develop and execute manual test cases and automated test scripts for web-based and native Android/iOS mobile applications in support of ongoing development and new feature releases
- Research and identify root causes, and advocate for the bug/software changes that will enhance the stability of supported applications and the overall customer experience
- Log defects with detailed steps, environment conditions, and other details as needed to reliably reproduce issues; coordinate with project team to prioritize and validate resolutions
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the integration of QA automation with CI/CD release pipelines
- Monitor and track testing status and issues, generate metrics and reports as needed
- Quality - Follow established coding standards. Submit code for review and deliver quality, unit test code.
- Design - Follow established design patterns and has awareness of user experience standards. Responsible for individual components of design.
- Application Development Cycle - Show fundamental knowledge of application development cycle.
- Project Management - Has ownership in success of projects. Responsible for estimating and delivering on individual task within project.

- Software Solutions - Develop, validate and implement software solutions based on customer requirements, Enterprise architecture standards and defined project designs.
- Security - Show fundamental knowledge and the ability to learn secure coding processes and writing, accessing, and following established security protocols.
- Troubleshooting - Show the ability to resolve basic issues and offer input on issue resolution.
- Integration - Responsible for less complex components of integration within a module.
Qualifications
- Typically has familiarity with the work through education or practical experience.
- Experience with complex development environments, taking abstract concepts and ideas and formulating a detailed software deliverable
- Experience in developing on cross-functional systems
- Deep knowledge of programming
- Basic understanding of the SDLC
- Highly driven and self-motivated to exceed expectations Ability to work independently and in a team based environment
- Proficient in both oral and written communication
Preferred Experience:
- Typically has 2+ years’ experience in a Software Test Engineer role, coding UI automation frameworks and test scripts with a proficiency in one or more programming languages.
- Advanced knowledge of manual testing concepts, techniques, and best practices\
- Hands-on experience in programming and executing automated test scripts using a framework such as Selenium WebDriver (or similar tool with willingness to learn) for end-to-end UI automation
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, or NativeScript is preferred
- Familiarity with native mobile application testing tools such as Appium or Android/iOS device emulators is preferred
- Knowledge of API/web services testing tools such as POSTMAN or SoapUI is ideal
- Solid understanding of the Agile/SCRUM/SAFe SDLC using ALM tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps or JIRA
- Knowledge of or participation in continuous integration/continuous delivery practices, integrating QA scripts into automated software
