In this role, the Benefits Operations Analyst performs technical and specialized work involved in the administration of employee benefits. They analyze, identify, propose, and implement process improvement, reporting and automated solutions for benefits administration across shared services departments. They articulate these opportunities to internal and external stakeholders, lead project teams for implementation, and track and monitor progress. Additionally, they act as technical and systems subject matter expert supporting the benefits team and Employee Service Center.

Responsibilities:
- Identify and implement system and work process improvements to increase automation, enhance reporting, and support UPMC's benefits administration.
- Review current recurring processes such as vendor file transfers, benefits deduction processing and reconciliation, and employee escalation tracking to identify greater efficiencies and potential improvements.
- Model business requirements for process improvement, special projects and enhancements to existing processes; validate and test fixes/enhancements to new and existing processes and systems.
- Manage projects from the scoping phase through implementation and hand off.
- Identify areas of concern that may compromise efficient benefits administration through data analysis, and propose solutions based on findings, expertise, and research
- Partner with HRIS team to understand and utilize HRIS system to generate management reports related to benefit deductions, eligibility, enrollments, confirmations, event maintenance, plan statistics, etc.
- Act as the Benefits team technical subject matter expert engaging with IT, HRIS, payroll, etc. on an on-going basis to establish priorities and direction for technical work in benefits.
- Establish processes that are efficient and effective in delivering outstanding customer service to internal business partners and employees.
- Provide technical support as required for systems conversions, new vendor implementations, and other enterprise-wide changes as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, or related field required
- Three years of experience in a Project Management, Process Improvement, HRIS, or Employee Benefits role required
- Analysis experience with information systems required, Oracle Cloud HRIS preferred-including QA/audit/systems testing.
- Experience in employee benefits administration, data management and transformation, HR Information Systems or similar business preferred.
