All positions are full-time and expected to work an 8 or 12-hour, rotating shift schedule based on department needs. Training is provided. Title and pay will be determined based off experience and education level.
Hospitality Associate (starting at $16.55/hour) – Help our patients by supporting the clinical staff with “the small things” that make all the difference. Contribute to the team by managing equipment, preparing patient care supplies, delivering water pitchers, and tidying rooms. This role is important to ensure our team functions efficiently and effectively.
Patient & Family Support Generalist (starting at $16.59/hour) – Create a positive first impression by welcoming new patients, their families, and visitors. Serve as a patient experience concierge on the unit and help them anticipate what to expect from the care team, navigate hospital services, and assist with discharge preparation.
Mobility Technician (starting at $16.59/hour) – Provide routine mobilization of patients within their assigned departments, which includes duties such as walking patients in the hall, assisting patients to a chair for meals, using lifts to assist bed bound patients to a chair, and understanding/acquiring vital signs as needed.
Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician (starting at $16.68/hour) – Must routinely perform the UPMC nursing core nursing assistant responsibilities, which includes Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients. You will also perform blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, patient weights, vital signs, record intake and output, telemetry monitor application/reapplication, Hospital Acquired Condition prevention (application of TEDs/SCDs), and clean catch/straight catheter urine collection. In addition, Patient Care Technicians can apply simple dressings, perform 12 lead EKG and bladder scans, and collect specimens.
Qualifications
Hospitality Associates

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Patient & Family Support Generalists
-
High School diploma required.
-
Degree in communication, public relations or customer service preferred.
-
5 years of experience in a customer-service setting is preferred.
-
Additional previous experience in health care, customer service or sales is preferred.
-
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Medipac and Microsoft Office preferred.
-
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as have the ability to remain calm and diffuse upset patients and family members.

Ability to use critical thinking skills, work independently, yet be part of a team to foster a welcoming environment.

Self motivation.

Ability to anticipate customer needs.
Mobility Technicians
-
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
-
Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Good communication skills.

Displays excellent customer service skills.

Basic computer knowledge.
Nursing Assistants/Patient Care Technicians

High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Patient Care Technician title must also have either:
-
1 Year of Experience
-
Enrollment in PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation
-
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a health sciences field.

Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician class
-
Successful completion of basic information system training.
-
Microcomputer experience preferred.
-
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
-
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.
-
Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
-
Act 34
-
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal (dependent on department placement)
-
Act 33 with renewal (dependent on department placement)
-
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal (dependent on department placement)
-
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire for Mobility Technician and Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician positions

ACLS preferred for Mobility Technician position
