Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Research Specialist to join the Geriatric Neuropsychology Research Program (GNRP)! Our team is involved in 15-20 funded research studies, many of which focus on cognitive aging, mood disorders, and interventions to prevent cognitive decline. Because we work with people of varied backgrounds and abilities, including those whom have traditionally been marginalized in society, we are looking for someone who will bring a high level of sensitivity and empathy to work. You will learn to administer cognitive tests and clinical evaluations independently. We conduct our research at several UPMC locations in the Oakland neighborhood, as well as community-based centers in the area.
We are looking for a self-starter who works well independently and on a team. Candidates with strong interpersonal and organization skills or those interested in a clinical career are encouraged to apply.
Research Specialists on our team independently administer cognitive tests as well as clinical evaluations. You will work with people of varied backgrounds and abilities, including those with mental health disorders and those traditionally marginalized in society. The schedule for this position is an 8-hour shift between the hours of 8:00AM and 6:00PM; with approximately 1 weekend day per month depending on scheduling and study needs.

Responsibilities:
- Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
- Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
- Independently administer cognitive assessments and clinical evaluations for research protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
- Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
- Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working in customer-facing roles is a plus.

- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
- Act 34
