Description

UPMC Cosmetic Surgery & Skin Health Center is hiring a full-time Surgical Assistant to join their team in Sewickley, PA! In this position, you will work Monday-Friday during daylight hours assisting providers with set up and tear down in addition to assisting during surgeries. No evenings, weekends or holidays required! Free parking is available. 

Purpose:
Assists with all cosmetic, general derm (Excisions, Biopsy), and laser procedures. Provides surgical assistance in Cosmetic, General, and in Resident's Surgery Division. Learn and assist in the General Derm Clinic.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with maintaining inventory of surgical supplies required in surgical area and alert Clinical Coordinator of supplies required.
  • Assist physicians with laser treatments including preparing skin for treatment, applying Polysporin and dressings, also any other needs as determined by the physician.
  • Provide any assistance to any other area within the department when required and within individual's skill level.
  • Perform cleaning and checking equipment utilized for malfunction breakdowns etc.
  • Provide any other clinical assistance to patients within the surgical area such as pre-op and post-op instructions and wound care.
  • Provide immediate, skilled, accurate and timely surgical assistance to the physicians utilizing surgery in both general and cosmetic surgery areas, including setting up, assisting clean up.
  • Provide any clinical assistance in the general dermatology clinical area when deemed appropriate and required by the Director, the Clinical Operations Manager, her designee or a physician.
  • Assist with routine maintenance of surgical area.

 

Qualifications

  • Training as a Medical Assistant required.
  • Training in surgical procedures and techniques desired but not required.
  • Training in assisting with Alexandrite, Erbium; Yag, Nd; Yag, Cool Touch, Kendall Dye Laser and CO2 Laser will be provided. 


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
