Research Assistant | The Theiss Complex Child and Adolescent Trauma (CCAT) Project

Description

The Research Assistant will be coordinating and monitoring data collection at Theiss and CCAT Project sites throughout Western Pennsylvania; completing data entry and data management tasks; working with the project evaluator; and assisting the Project Director and Research Program Administrator with report generation for program monitoring and evaluation purposes.  The employee will also assist the Project Director and Research Program Administrator with community partnership development for increased access and outreach purposes, including coordination of our Child and Family Trauma Support Provider Coalition.  The Theiss Complex Child and Adolescent Trauma (CCAT) Project is funded by a 5-year clinical SAMHSA grant through the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative.  CCAT is increasing access to trauma-related, evidence-based treatments throughout Western Pennsylvania to remediate the impact of complex traumatic stress for children and adolescents. This project is grant-funded (dependent upon yearly Federal approval) through 2026.  

The ideal candidate should have the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and manage activities over multiple sites; experience in both research and clinical settings; demonstrated ability to work independently and problem solve; demonstrated ability with community engagement, networking, and organizing; excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.

This position is grant funded.

Purpose:
The Research Assistant provides support as needed to grant implementation. Responsible for data collection, entry, and management across all Project sites.  Provides support to the Project Director and Research Program Administrator in all areas of grant activities, with an emphasis on communication and coordination with internal and community partners and coordination of collaborative work. 


Responsibilities:

  • Organize references and materials for research projects and content areas.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with stakeholders and internal staff.
  • Conduct literature searches.
  • Provide support for grant proposal and manuscript development and submission.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings and seminars, both internally and externally.
  • Perform data collection and entry for all Project locations
  • Run/Submit data reports to help clinicians monitor client progress; Project Director and Research Program Administrator track project goals/objectives and quality assurance; and Evaluator to determine program effectiveness.
  • Assist in data management.
  • Generally, assist Project Director and Research Program Administrator with implementation of grant activities.
  • Assist with community partnership development for increased access and outreach purposes, including coordination of Trauma Provider Coalition meetings and communication
  • Maintain group communication with partner sites and Provider Coalition members, including website and email account.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, or current enrollment, with some experience in research environment.
  • Experience in Public Health, Psychology, Applied Research or Behavioral Health is preferred.
  • Experience working with children and families impacted by trauma preferred.
  • Community organization/partnership development experience preferred.
  • Data collection, management, and reporting experience preferred.
  • Federal government grant experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and the ability to learn various software packages as needed.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
