UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Disability Management Coordinator to help support the WorkPartners Disability Department's Vocational team. The vocational team is a small and close knit team dedicated to helping others. The successful candidate will coordinate and manage the employee disability management program. This is a Monday through Friday, daylight, REMOTE position.

  • -Experience reviewing reasonable accommodation requests under the ADAAA  

  • -Experience managing claims in a fast-paced,  electronic claims management system


  • -Experience in a setting with regular inbound and outbound phone calls
  • -Knowledge of ADAAA relevant to disability accommodations


  • Demonstrate exemplary case management skills while reviewing and monitoring accommodation requests under ADAAA for internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain focused and detail-oriented while adhering to competing timelines and demands.
  • Functions as an internal consultant to the supervisory and management levels regarding best practices and continuous process improvement within the area of ADAAA.
  • Gather relevant information from key stakeholders such as the employee, employer, and medical provider when evaluating eligibility under ADAAA and requests for reasonable accommodations
  • Coordinate all ongoing needs for accommodation such as sign language interpreters, the purchase and tracking of equipment and assistive technology, and/or other accommodations needed.
  • Participate in the preparation and presentation of individual and group progress reports to management regarding status of employees with an accommodation.
  • Perform job analysis and other evaluations as necessary to evaluate job demands
  • Serve as an expert vocational witness for both occupational and non-occupational claims in depositions, hearings, or other channels
  • Maintains current information on employee's condition and anticipated return-to-work date or temporary restrictions while recovering from a medical condition.
  • Maintain an aggressive diary for management of vocational rehabilitation/placement activities and monitoring of staff members' progress in accommodation plan



  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Psychology, Human Services, Human Resource Management, Public Administration or other related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in disability administration or related required
  • OR 1 year of professional experience in disability administration and approved certification required.
  • Demonstrates professional and operational knowledge of State and Federal Disability, ADA, ADAAA, FMLA and other appropriate laws
  • Knowledge of UPMC Disability Income Protection Plan, ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and analytical skills with the ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and proven interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to coordinate and manage several tasks/duties at the same time.
  • Able to weigh and evaluate several factors requiring judgment and problem solving.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of HRIS and timekeeping systems.
  • Able to deal with all levels of employees within the organization.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor), LPC (PA Licensed Professional Counselor), CDMS (Certified Disability Management Specialist), and/or CCM (Certified Case Manager) preferred.
