Description
The C&E Arts Therapist will specialize in Art Therapy and conduct individual and group therapy as assigned using a C & E Arts Therapist specialty as part of the multidisciplinary team. Perform assigned tasks delegated by C & E Arts Therapist Program Coordinator/supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP: Facilitate C & E Arts Therapist specialty training/orientation activities as requested by C & E Arts Therapist Program Coordinator/supervisor. Supervise students with oversight/support from C & E Arts Therapist Program Coordinator/supervisor.
- CARE DELIVERY:Conduct individual and/or group therapy sessions effectively using a C & E Arts Therapist discipline. Document in the Medical Record according to established guidelines including assessments and treatment progress notes. Document training and supervision activities according to established guidelines. Adhere to hospital guidelines related to quality and safety.Request and care for supplies responsibly and appropriately with consideration for the safety of the population. Monitor for safe and responsible use of supplies.
- PROFESSIONAL GROWTH: Attend C & E Arts Therapist department meetings regularly. Maintain professional certification/licensure as per CEU requirements. Attend 1-3 unit based or institute wide in-services/trainings yearly. Learn and use up-to-date technology and practices in delivery of patient care.
- COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE: Attend interdisciplinary meetings and other activities as needed. Maintain on-going communication with unit and C & E Arts Therapist staff. Perform assigned work in a timely and productive manner
- STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required for music therapy.
- All other CEAT disciplines require a Master's degree in a Creative/Expressive arts therapy such as Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Drama Therapy or in a related Mental Health field from an accredited college or University.
- The ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing is required.
- For this entry-level position, 1 year of experience providing group and/or individual therapy using a C & E Arts Therapist discipline is necessary.
- Graduate internship training hours count as experience for this position.
- The incumbent must be physically capable of providing direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill patients as necessary, including lifting, supporting, running towards or away from areas where problems are occurring and pushing and pulling equipment such as wheel chairs, IV poles, etc.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Candidates must hold the minimum credentialing for a creative arts discipline such as: Music Therapy (MT-BC); Dance Movement Therapy (R-DMT); Drama Therapy (RDT), or have a Master's degree in Art Therapy and be working toward certification
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
