Purpose:
The Analytics and Outcomes Department partners with clinical and business leaders and staff to develop insightful analyses, support benchmarking and regulatory reporting requirements, and advance the overall analytics capabilities of Western Behavioral Health.
Under direct supervision of the management team and senior staff, this associate level position will provide analytical services, define requirements, assure the quality of applications and the adherence to department standards, and provide services to meet business needs.
This position will specifically support Psych Care+, the hub for connecting patients to behavioral health services, from inpatient to ambulatory, and will have a positive impact on patient access to the care they need.
Responsibilities:
- Develop analyses and data visualizations using available tools such as Microsoft Excel, based on data from a variety of sources
- Create, maintain, and continuously improve ability to report on executive, regulatory, and internal metrics/KPIs
- Cleanse and manipulate data as needed to produce analyses
- Develop training materials and provide user training on analytics tools and software systems in use by customer
- Audit designated software work products for both packaged system solutions and custom development applications to verify compliance to department standards.
- Perform application system tests to verify that applications comply with requirements.
- Acquire current industry knowledge and trends, attends education events and acquires applicable certifications.
- Develop and execute automated regression tests for both packaged solutions and internally developed applications.
- Assist teams in the documentation of operation concepts according to the customer's perspective. The operation's concept includes documentation of the current work flow, justification for change and the proposal for the new system, including use cases and high level requirements.
- Document organizational processes and maintain the organization's process database.
- Document system test plans, test cases, test procedures and test summary reports for both packaged solutions and internally developed applications.
- Establish and maintain defect tracking system and tracks reported defects to closure for both packaged solutions and internally developed applications.
- Provide service to client community, patients, families and visitors, while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
- Verify product traceability at each project milestone, verifying that each stage is traceable to the Requirements and the RFP.
- Participate in project reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, health information, or mathematic preferred (Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field will be considered with relevant experience)
- Experience in the following platforms preferred:
- MS Excel as an analytical tool
- SQL
- Power BI
- Cerner, Epic
- Typically has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering OR has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience
- Demonstrates understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the information technology professional disciplines (i.e., Applications, Business Analysis, Customer Service, Data, Networking, Operations, Security, Systems Engineering, etc.) and applies that understanding to make practical contributions to IT work within a particular UPMC department or function
- Familiarity with healthcare clinical and business environment, behavioral health preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Project management interest or experience preferred
- Experience in use and creation of dashboards and benchmarking
