UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full Time Health Unit Coordinator to support the Outpatient Oncology department!
The UPMC Magee Womens Cancer Center in Collaboration with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is a center of excellence. Our Medical and Advanced Practitioner staff including Collaborative Practice RN support, care for the Breast Cancer patient population seen here. Our Treatment area with Chemotherapy and Biotherapy trained Nursing staff treat patients with Breast Cancer and the Gynecologic cancers. We maintain the UPMC values which encourages an atmosphere of learning and teamwork. Our turnover is minimal and our staff are encouraged to offer input in all areas of patient care.
This position will work 4 10-hour shifts once trained. There are no holidays or weekends required with this role! Hours are subject to change based on business needs.
The Health Unit Coordinator greets all patients, family members, visitors and staff members. This role assists with all communications regarding the department, accurately updates and maintains patient flow process and coordinate patient tests and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains par levels for designated supplies and forms including down time folders. Rounds through family lounge to assure proper items are stocked and room is maintained.
- Maintains accurate unit communication including, but not limited to, promptly answering telephones, activating the paging system, facilitating timely faxing, and distributing patient and unit mail.
- Maintains office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, telephones, refrigerator temperatures, printers, and fax machines.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and computer applications preferred
- Outstanding customer service ability preferred.
- Completion of a Certified Health Unit Secretary course preferred.
- In the course of duties may be asked to distribute medications to the nurse at the bedside.
- Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
