Purpose:
The Radiology Assistant will serve as a technologist assistant for various Imaging departments. Provide quality patient care in a timely manner to aid in medical diagnosis under the supervision of an Imaging technologist.
Responsibilities:
- Displays the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters and to exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics.
- Answers telephones and routes calls, taking messages as appropriate.
- Works cooperatively with patients, professional staff, and other medical personnel to maintain a good relationship.
- Assists with invasive procedure tray set-up and couriers specimens to lab as needed.
- Transports patients throughout Imaging and other areas as needed.
- Practices established radiation safety and MRI safety protocols.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Must possess manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; must be able to adapt to all types of conditions of patients.
- Assists in maintaining sufficient and appropriate supplies in various Imaging areas
- Assists technical staff by preparing the exam room and assisting the Technologist as directed with patient care/flow.
- Assists in maintaining sufficient and appropriate supplies in various Imaging areas
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent
One year of patient care experience preferred
Excellent communication skills due to high degree of interaction with physicians and patients
Clerical and computer experience preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
