UPMC Corporate Services is hiring to support its Corporate and Special Projects Group, located in the U.S. Steel Tower in downtown Pittsburgh. We are an exciting group that works directly on behalf of our senior leadership to inform strategy, produce corporate communications, and enhance our community health improvement efforts.
Working in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Graduate Intern plays a vital role in UPMC strategic projects and communications, including the UPMC Community Benefits Report, Community Health Needs Assessments, and presentations and planning documents for the UPMC Board of Directors.

Description
The UPMC Corporate's Graduate Internship will be a 10-to-12-week paid internship starting in mid-May 2023. Working 40-hours a week, Summer Interns will have a unique opportunity to learn and contribute to the UPMC Corporate Services Division, while pursuing their health care career interests.
The Graduate Intern will have opportunities to:
- Gain broad exposure to various aspects of UPMC.
- Better understand the role of Corporate Services as it relates to UPMC and its function as part of a fully integrated academic medical center.
- Strengthen health care experience through work on various projects, which includes Community Health Needs Assessments, Community Benefits Report, Marketing and Communications ad hoc projects, and review of industry research and market trends.
- Observe executive-level meetings.
- Improve management, leadership, communication, networking, and analytical skills.
Qualifications
- Students must be pursuing an MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent master-level degree. Preference will be given to students attending an accredited degree program.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), SQL, Statistics, Cognos (preferred), ArcGIS (preferred), Business Analytics
- Strong data visualization inclination with a willingness to experiment with innovative data display techniques
- Experience evaluating and automating data collection and analyses
- Experience with financial, business, and public health analyses (e.g., market share and growth projections, geo-mapping)
- The ability to gather, synthesize and translate complex analytic, business and scientific information into actionable information and summary level reports for an executive audience
- The dedication to meet deadlines, multitask, present professionally, and the unwavering commitment to quality and detail.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable interfacing with senior level executives and board members.
- Experience in an academic medical center, hospital or health care industry is preferred.
