UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is looking for a motivated Full Time Pharmacy Technician - Associate to join their Inpatient team! This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to gain hospital pharmacy experience or someone who is looking for a change. UPMC Magee is a world-class center for both women’s health and comprehensive medical-surgical care hospital that offers the opportunity to learn and grow in your pharmacy career!

This position will work daylight and evening shifts. This role is expected to work every third weekend, as well as one winter and one summer holiday. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

Sign-on bonus details:

  • $5,000 with a 2-year commitment to UPMC

The Pharmacy Technician, Associate provides pharmaceutical care to patients within the UPMC Health System by assisting with the sterile and nonsterile medication preparation, medication filling, and medication distribution. The Pharmacy Technician, Associate services are provided in compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive and productive service relationships during medication distribution process.
  • Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting, and stocking practices.
  • Assist in the training of pharmacy personnel and students.
  • Audit and maintain accurate records for controlled substances. Assure that all such drugs are stored and dispensed in compliance with Federal, State, and Department Regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment.
  • Maintain all patient information and records. Maintain the pharmacy computer system as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • One of the following is required: 
    • Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
    • Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience 
    • Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System
    • Enrollment in a college program and in good standing

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
