STATEMENT POLICY | ||||||||
The overall function of the Clinical co-leader for malignant hematology program is to coordinate the delivery of care to all malignat hematology patients as needed and to administer the Section of Malignant hematology in coordination with the section chief of Malignant Hematology in compliance with standards and regulations set forth by JCAHO and other regulatory agencies and the Hospital and Medical Staff Bylaws Rules,Regulations, Policies and Procedures. | ||||||||
BASIC FUNCTIONS | ||||||||
Serve as the lead physician for the practice of Malignant Hematology | ||||||||
MAJOR TASKS | ||||||||
1) | Assure the high quality and appropriateness of patient care rendered by members of the Division | |||||||
2) | Participate in the development of programs and services for patients with malignant hematology as deemed medically appropriate. | |||||||
3) | Develop guidelines to provide consistent care in the malignant hematology Unit. | |||||||
4) | Coordinate the multidisciplinary care provided by the pharmacists ,nurse practitioners,fellows and consultants in malignant hematology | |||||||
5) | Arrange necessary coverage for the Malignant Hematology inpatient and consult services at Shadyside/Presbyterian Hospital and outpatient care at the HCC SHY campus | |||||||
6) | Assume responsibility for direct patient care when medically necessary under emergent conditions or on request by attending physician. | |||||||
7) | Foster the growth of clinical and translational research programs in malignant hematology taking adavantege of our state-of-the-art academic environment and the expertise of basic and translational scientists across the Hillman Center | |||||||
8) | Participate in the teaching and training of Hematology and Oncology fellows, residents, and medical students and additional mentorship | |||||||
Qualifications
ACCOUNTABILITES/QUALIFICATIONS | ||||||||
1) | Board Certified in Hematology or Oncology | |||||||
2) | Licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania | |||||||
3) | Appointment to the Hospital’s Active Medical Staff | |||||||
4) | Appointment to the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine Faculty | |||||||
5) | Bases office practice at UPMC Presbyterian-Shadyside Hospitals and the Hillman Cancer Center and utilizes inpatient and ambulatory hospital | |||||||
6) | Proven administrative capabilities in leading comprehensive programs and centers in a department, division or institution | |||||||
7) | Experience and record of leading teams and growing clinical programs |
