UPMC is seeking a full-time Prevention Education Specialist to work Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Will occasionally work evenings and Saturdays (approximately 5 times per year). The successful candidate will have experience working with the public, and strong organizational and communication skills. Provides drug and alcohol education in local schools and communities utilizing an evidence-based curriculum. Actively participates in the Student Assistance Program in schools within Tioga County.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the Communities That Care workgroup.
- Provide community outreach education at events throughout Tioga county.
- Schedule and implement prevention education in classrooms for the local school districts in Tioga County.
- Participate in Student Assistant Teams (SAP) in all schools in Tioga County to determine the best approaches to assisting at-risk students.
- Meet with school administrators to formalize an agreement to provide prevention education in the classroom.
- Work with curriculum developers to become certified to teach selected courses.
- Complete required reporting as required by the funder; including online data submission and narrative summary reports to the Tioga County Department of Human Services.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is required. Two years of experience with public speaking and effective project management required. Prior teaching experience preferred.
