Description
Purpose:
The Patient Transport Lead is responsible for the organizing and coordinating of work flow for all procedures related to Patient Transport. Transports people via wheelchair, Litter, or other assisted mobility device safely to a destination.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of departmental fire, safety, disaster, and infection control procedures.
- Reports any mechanical failure or negative condition of assigned workplace to the Director/Manager.
- Adheres to all established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal regulations.
- Adheres to all HIPAA standards and practices when dealing with protected health information.
- Completes the annual educational modules as assigned.
- Assists with the orientation of new transport employees as requested.
- May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.
- Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with patients, families, management staff, and other employees, physicians, and other personnel within the hospital.
- Communicates with staff members to improve quality of service as well as procedural changes.
- Provides inputs on annual employee evaluations and completes forms in a timely manner.
- Assists in the training of new employees and continuing education programs.
- Performs service recovery to patients/customers who have received unsatisfactory service.
- Performs patient/customer and employee rounding.
- Coordinates and leads employees in Patient Transport.
- Performs other tasks, as needed, to maintain the assigned area in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Assists in preparation of all monthly reports.
Qualifications
HS Diploma/GED preferred2 years relevant experience requiredKnowledgeable about all safety, universal precaution, fire, evacuation, emergency care, and disaster policies and procedures.Knowledgeable of all transporter responsibilities and hospital layout.Requires the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete Transport duties and the ability to use Transport equipment.Ability to handle multiple demands in high stress and emergency situations is required.Ability to communicate professional with various user groups is required.Position requires that the individual become CPR certified within 90 days of hire.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
