Description
Purpose:
In this role, you will execute and report complex accounting activities and processes associated with maintaining accounting for charitable gifts, donations and endowments at UPMC. This includes gifts supporting children’s health and wellness, patient access and care, and many other community needs. The individual in this position will work closely with Finance Leaders across UPMC and affiliated foundations to coordinate complex transactions, communicate new accounting standards, align accounting methodologies, and lead process improvement projects, including automation (RPA) efforts. This position also offers some remote work flexibility.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and posts complex monthly journal entries.
- Prepares reconciliation of actual to budget variance analysis.
- Creates complex accounting analytics for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Review proposed contracts and business transactions for financial risk and proper accounting treatment.
- Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
- Prepares general ledger account reconciliations for designated accounts. Proposes correcting entries.
- Works to align accounting activities with current accounting standards and best practices.
- Develops analyses and reports to support system-wide finance executives.
- Prepares detailed analyses for annual audit.
- Acts as a mentor for analysts or administrative staff.
- Leads process improvement projects and other special projects as assigned.
- Acts as a liaison for the department in meetings with management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.
- Minimum of three years of related work experience required.
- OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.
- Microsoft Office spreadsheet application required, and PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.
