Coordinate and oversee all clinical staff and functions.
University of Pittsburgh Physicians is looking for a Clinical Supervisor to join their Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery team. The primary responsibility of this position is administrative oversight of the Pediatric Division. This position will work Monday - Friday, No evenings, weekends or holidays!
Responsibilities:
- Assist the physician and other related practitioners with procedures and tests as required.
- Act as a resource for both in-patient and out-patient clinical issues.
- Actively involved in insurance issues including reimbursement and obtaining insurance authorization for new procedures.
- Attend outpatient clinics, perform history and physicals, and dictate referral letters to physicians as directed.
- Other clinical duties as assigned to assist physician and physician extender such as inpatient rounding.
- Oversee all aspects of physicians schedule and coordinates his administrative and clinical responsibilities.
- Provide patient and family teaching and support.
- Recruit, interview and hire of personnel.
- Serve as the liaison between the Division and other departments to facilitate patients' services.
- Organize and oversee staffing of clinical sites.
- Initiate patient admissions and discharges including writing discharge orders and dictating discharge summaries.
- Obtain all radiology films for OR cases.
- Assist with research projects.
- Review diagnostic, laboratory and radiologic data for patients, both pre- and post-operatively. Discuss further testing as needed.
- Participate in staff evaluations. Act as a mediator for staff related issues.
- Monitor the completion of medical records on a weekly basis.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation. Bring relevant observations or urgent patient information to the attention of the physician or physician extender. Complete all documentation accurately. Verify orders in charts.
- Troubleshoot problems in clinical areas. Work in conjunction with clinic staff to resolve issues.
- Manage multiple tasks including triaging phone calls, help schedule surgeries, pre-and post-operative teaching, set priorities and utilizes good planning skills to efficiently utilize time.
- Coordinate both the clinical and non-clinical aspects of the department.
- Orient new residents and fellows to the Service.
- Perform procedures as directed.
Qualifications
- 5 or more years related experience preferably within the specialty.
- Strong management, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving ability and good decision-making skills.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
