Description
Purpose:
This position is responsible for the administrative and financial management of grants and contracts awarded to UPMC Central Pa entities. Responsible for process improvements and necessary training. This position will assist the Manager, Grants and Contracts with research and writing related to grant funding opportunities and participate in UPMC Pinnacle Foundation fundraising events as required.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for initiating meetings with program managers to review details related to grants.
- Direct contact and interaction with Manager, Grants and Contracts, various UPMC department staff, as well as UPMC Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Studies (OSPARS).
- Assist Manager, Grants and Contracts with research for new grant opportunities that are aligned with UPMC priorities.
- Assist Manager, Grants and Contracts to write and gather data for grant applications.
- Conduct monthly grant budget reconciliation through Foundation fundraising software system and work with program managers to meet contract requirements.
- Complete grant fiscal reports as needed.
- Identify solutions for procedure and processing issues that may exist between different departments.
- Assist Manager, Grants and Contracts to meet financial compliance requirements for the annual audit.
- Expenditure approval, recording, and monitoring on grants.
- Remain current and knowledgeable on UPMC procedures and requirements concerning grants management issues.
- Help with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting or finance with three years of account or grants management experience
- OR successful completion of the Certification Examination for Research Administrators with at least five years of professional experience in research or sponsored programs administration.
- Prior experience working with Department Manager and Access Databases is required.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, & A-133 and NIH Grants Policy Statement.
- Knowledge of a dual financial structure for grants management and to maintain cooperative working relationships with the Principle Investigators, sponsors, Institute accounting and administrative offices.
- Ability to ensure financial and research compliance of financial transaction expended on grants with the terms and conditions of the contract.
- Must be able to identify problem areas, offer solutions, and implement corrective action.
- Prior grants management experience preferred.

- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
