UPMC Children's Hospital at Hamot in Erie, PA is hiring a casual Pediatric Echocardio Sonographer to join their team! This position will consist of 1, 8 hour daylight shift a week. There will be travel requirements to Pittsburgh, PA only during the orientations. After orientation, all shifts will be at UPMC Hamot.

Purpose:
Perform non-invasive echocardiography and Doppler Studies.
Responsibilities:
- Attend Echocardiography Laboratory teaching conferences and continue to expand own knowledge of echocardiography and congenital heart disease.
- Function independently and perform the full range of echocardiography examinations. Must be able to work various shifts and provide on-call, overtime and weekend coverage, as well as support examinations at the main campus, satellite and/or any outreach location(s).
- Perform miscellaneous Echocardiography Laboratory duties to include: maintain supplies and equipment, pull and key echo studies, and maintain a clean Echocardiography Laboratory.
- Identify four interesting cases, one simple shunt, one simple stenosis and one complex lesion case (as defined by the divisional director) per quarter and logs these cases into the Sonographer QA binder.
- Work with the child and family to secure cooperation so that a diagnostic echocardiographic study can be obtained.
- Work with all makes of equipment and explores new procedures and technology.
- Provide guidance and instruction to less experienced scanners (cardiac sonographers, ultrasound students, cardiology fellows) to improve their imaging skills and acquire complete information in a patient with complex congenital heart disease.
- Performing scans at the technical level as deemed appropriate by the Lead Sonographer and Medical Director
- Review patient's medical history to determine what echocardiographic information is needed.
- Perform clerical duties accurately in a timely manner such as entering data in the patient logbooks and accurately enters patient billing information into appropriate system.
- Perform diagnostic portable echocardiographic studies independently.
- Perform complete echocardiographic studies (two-dimensional imaging and Doppler) on children with heart disease with minimal physician guidance.
Qualifications
- Associates degree and/or graduate of accredited ultrasound training program.
- Basic science area such as Ultrasound with an emphasis on cardiac anatomy and physiology or related healthcare field. Program must have provided didactic and supervised clinical experience in echocardiography and be accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Canadian Medical Association (CMA).
- 2 years' experience required in Echocardiography and related procedures.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Pediatric Certification is required.
- Adult Certification is required, if candidates do not have adult certification- employee must obtain it within 1 year of hire
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
