UPMC Corporate Communications is hiring a Student Worker – Internal Communications Intern to join our team! This intern will work with the department for Summer 2023. The position will work Monday through Friday, during business hours and can occasionally work from home. This internship will be a paid internship!
We are looking for individuals who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, Health Sciences, or a related field. All individuals will be required to provide a writing sample upon applying to the role.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to Internal Communications department processes, including editing content, submitting to publications, supporting intranet governance, and other processes as outlined by department leadership.
- Support internal communications projects related to information technology topics.
- Serve as a liaison to internal clients and colleagues for UPMC's intranet.
- Contribute to intranet content operations including editing, responding to user requests, and making regular improvements, while ensuring usability, accuracy, accessibility, and discoverability.
- Research and support UPMC’s intranet upgrade effort.
- Quickly attend to user requests and inquiries through clear and concise verbal and written communications.
- Ensure that content and design is understandable, accessible, and consistent with UPMC brand standards.
- Demonstrate service-oriented behavior in interactions with clients and co-workers.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize projects appropriately.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, Health Sciences, or a related field is preferred
- Proficiency in writing and editing
- Ability to work independently on a number of separate, simultaneous tasks
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools
- Excellent communication, multitasking, organizational, research/interviewing, writing, grammar, and interpersonal skills
