UPMC is hiring a Facilities Dispatcher to join our Corporate Team! This position will work varied shifts and varied days to support our 24/7 department. The position will have the option to be fully remote too after onsite training!
The Facilities Dispatcher will act as a principal contact to field, prioritize, and dispatch routine and emergency requests for facilities operations and other essential services across all UPMC hospital campuses, senior living facilities, and other non-hospital-based facilities. As well as utilizing a matrix of communications tools to ensure timely transmission and support to protect and promote the safety of patients, staff and visitors to UPMC in a manner that reflects the organizations mission and values.

Responsibilities:
- Simultaneously operate a multi-line IP system and multiple online applications such as CMMS, instant chat, web requests, and SharePoint to field, analyze, and distribute maintenance and other essential service requests.? Follow established systemwide standardization and Best Practice protocols to interpret and respond to customer requests for facilities logistics and operational needs.
- Act as a primary point of contact for all internal and external emergencies affecting operations, including but not limited to vertical transportation failures and entrapments, pneumatic tube system failures, system alarms, MobileView temperature alerts, utility outages, condition alerts, floods, inclement weather, etc.
- Maintain constant and detailed communication with a hybrid team of on-site and remote co-workers to facilitate accurate shift logs, unpredictable shop schedule changes, and timely facilities staffing changes.? Preserve CMMS work order data integrity to enable time charge accuracy, track asset downtime, and capture cost recovery information.
- Exhibit professionalism, flexibility, and conscientiousness in every customer interaction to foster an environment that reflects UPMC?s core values and promotes patient safety and satisfaction.? Work with on-site management teams and clinical staff to coordinate on-site life safety inspections by external regulatory agencies, as needed.? Receive and track facilities staff call offs for multiple hospitals; disseminate to appropriate leadership teams.
- Answer overflow calls for executive staff, relaying messages in a prompt manner.? Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.? Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- One year of experience as a dispatcher and/or call center operator preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with a typing ability of greater than 45 WPM required.
- Must have the ability to organize and direct routine and emergency response with tact, persuasiveness, clarity and forcefulness.
- Ability to think quickly respond appropriately under stressful and/or emergency situations required.
- Must possess a combination of human relations, technical, and knowledge related to basic maintenance and facilities operations and demonstrable analytical skills with the ability to immediately recognize hazards or threats to life safety, patient safety, etc.
- Must be able to instruct customer to implement safety protocols while gaining all necessary information in the process.
