UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Tax Analyst

Duties include the preparation and review of tax and other compliance reports, preparation of tax analyses, review of other pertinent tax materials



  • Prepares basic account and tax analyses
  • Prepares basic tax compliance
  • Gives support in the tax venue to all system departments as required by department management
  • Recognizes basic tax issues and assists in strategizing for potential solutions
  • Ability to present documented basic tax research and analyses on assigned and self identified tax issues with ability to discuss with management suggested conclusion and/or courses of action
  • Keeps current and well informed and conversant with federal, state and local tax laws
  • Identifies tax internal control procedural inefficiencies related to level of work assigned and assists in developing possible solutions for corrections
  • Recognizes accounting issues related to tax reporting requirements
  • Performs all responsibilities in a manner that demonstrates appropriate behavior towards patients, staff peers and other departments, as defined in the Basics of Service Excellence.



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.
  • Minimum of one year of accounting or tax experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, and initiative as well as the ability to work under stringent deadlines.
  • Experience with general ledger, tax compliance, tax research, spreadsheet and word processing and other business software is highly preferred.
  • A working knowledge of personal computers and familiarity with various software business, finance and tax related preferred.
  • Understanding of basis tax reporting requirements for all structures of entities and the ability to complete compliance in any/all areas as necessary desired.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic sources of accounting/tax literature.
  • Understanding of basic financial statements and related support schedules
