Are you a Licensed Practical Nurse looking for a great work life balance and a place you can advance your career? UPMC's Gastroenterology Associates in York, PA is looking to add a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to their team. This busy and growing office has 12 exam rooms, 5 physicians, 6 Physicians Assistants. As a LPN, you will provide professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.
HOURS: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm, NO WEEKENDS, NO HOLIDAYS, NO LATE EVENINGS.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs, weight, confirm medical history and any updates since last visit
- Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
- Triage phone calls
- Complete medication prior authorizations
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
- Promote wellness
- Provide patient education materials, communicate physician advice, and give instructions to patients i.e. Teach a patient how to give themselves an injection.
- Check out patients.
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
- Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
- Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
- Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
- Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
- One-year clinical experience preferred, but not required
- New graduates welcome to apply
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
