Description
The ARGO Neuroscience of Aging Lab focuses on what happens to our brains as we age. We focus on aging and elderly cohorts, and our studies focus on the changes that normally occur with aging, as well as taking a closer look at patients with anxiety, depression, and Alzheimer's Disease. The employee will be working under ARGO's Tetra Team, a programming team that processes fMRI scans for studies within the Psychology department. The employee working in this position can also expect to build new applications as needed and add to existing processing pipelines.
Purpose:
Processes and analyzes fMRI scans and provides computer application, system analysis, database management, database programming, and at times statistical programming for research department/studies.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
- Work on a team of programmers to build new programs and add to existing neuroimaging pipelines.
- Collaborate in the design and maintenance of server database systems.
- Assist in statistical analysis for projects.
- Assist in training department personnel on tools used to capture, enter and track data.
- Collaborate in the development and dissemination of data management and tracking programs necessary for protocols.
- Troubleshoot applications.
- Provide quality assurance of all aspects of data management including data flow, verification, analysis, assessment, archival database, security, and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the lead programmer in the creation and implementation of databases and applications.
Qualifications
- Typically has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering
OR
- has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience.
- Has mastered the essential knowledge base for an IT professional.
- Has mastered the essential IT principles and analytical rules that guide their application in practical situations.
- Able to perform basic/standard IT procedures and protocols.
- Relies on buddy system/coach to demonstrate applied skills and to guide non-routine actions. Higher education (Bachelors/Masters) may be required per Grants.
