UPMC is looking for a Credentialed Trainer to join their team. This position will be Remote with available on-site hoteling and office space if preferred. This role will also require rotating evening and weekend on-call.

Credentialed Trainers (CT) use the curriculum, lessons, and training materials created by the principal trainers to train end-users and provide post-training support. Participates in the process of offering real-time phone support to providers across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares training materials to use during classroom training.
  • Facilitates training sessions to end-users on proper use of the application.
  • Ability to learn and support multiple clinical applications across all inpatient and outpatient service lines.
  • Triage issues and service requests via phone, e-mail, and Service Desk tickets.
  • Accurately record and document all details of the issue or service request, including categorization and priority into the IT service desk tool.
  • Escalate issues to appropriate second- and third-level subject-matter experts in accordance to service-level agreements, and follow up on incidents when appropriate.
  • Leverage internal and external resources (knowledge bases, manuals, support sites, vendors) to answer questions and resolve issues.

  • Assists in the coordination of training logistics (i.e. courses, meeting rooms, registrations, timeframes, etc.) in collaboration with the Principal Trainer.
  • Assists in the preparation of the training system for hands-on training, developing training scenarios and training patients, etc.
  • Maintains system documentation.
  • Coordinates the training of end-users for new releases.
  • Provides demonstrations of system functionality as necessary.
  • Administers post-live refresher, optimization and skills-enhancement training.
  • Administers end-user proficiency assessments and in-system checklists.
  • Assists in updating training materials.
  • Tests lesson plans and training environment build.
  • Collects feedback from trainees in class and communicates feedback information to Principal Trainer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains open, productive communication with management and staff of both internal and external customers.
  • Identifies and escalates concerns of pertinent issues to Director or Vice President directly responsible for the specific project or initiative as appropriate.
  • Maintains and promotes positive, productive and proactive inter- and intradepartmental relationships to facilitate effective collaboration.
  • Provides consultation related to information systems.
  • Updates and manages project/activity list.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lead others and clearly communicate the importance of training to all stakeholders in the project.
  • Prefer previous clinical experience.
  • Experience with adult education, instructional design and curriculum delivery.
  • Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of organizational workflows.
  • Ability to develop and adhere to time schedules in order to meet project deadlines and to sequence activities logically.
  • Interpersonal skills at a level to function well in a wide range of administrative, management and patient care environments.
  • Regular need to work effectively with wide range of very senior to very junior individuals under training project and ad hoc conditions.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and assignments accurately within a set time frame and to function under stressful situations in a calm and rational manner.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software to create teaching/learning materials and documentation.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English grammar and spelling for use in both verbal and written communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in specialty or Education preferred.
  • Experience with technology and/or healthcare is strongly desired.
  • A proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
  • Skill and experience in adult education preferred.
  • A detailed understanding of workflows and system configuration preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills preferred.
  • A strong belief in the value of the Epic install preferred.
  • The ability to write well preferred.
  • Clinical or operational experience preferred.
