Description
The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis coordinates financial reporting and analysis amongst the Hospital Division to meet the expectations and timelines of Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis. This includes planning, facilitating, monitoring and evaluating the annual budgets as well as other financial planning initiatives. Career development with UPMC Finance will continue by being placed in roles of significance in order to further develop areas of need within UPMC and the goal of becoming a Senior Financial or Operational Leader.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall financial planning cycle for HSD, including operating and capital budgets, projections, plan to actual variance analysis, return-on-investment, and service line financial analysis.
- Support executive finance leaders by providing and analyzing financial, statistical, and demographic data to improve decision-making.
- Perform financial planning function in order to look forward and provide analytical and operational support to management and leadership.
- Plan, organize, actuate, and control the financial planning cycle, often times requiring complex, iterative, analysis.
- Manage and supervise FPA team and staff with respect to team priorities, development opportunities, and strategic direction.
- Own the integrity, dissemination, and quality of monthly financial and statistical reporting to operational and financial leaders.
- Work in conjunction with other divisional FPA teams to establish guidelines, deadlines and procedures for the annual system-wide budget process and forecasting of financial operations.
- Shape pertinent financial information into communication/presentation to executive leadership.
- Work with external agencies to procure relevant information, including rating agencies, PHC4, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related business field required.
- Minimum of seven years of related work experience required.
- Minimum of two years managerial or supervisory experience required.
- CPA/MBA or equivalent advance degree preferred.
- Prior experience with an academic medical center, budgeting and financial analysis preferred.
- Demonstrated executive presence and leadership skills.
- Ability to complete duties and assignments with minimal guidance and work effectively under deadline situations.
- Technical and professional skills in healthcare financial management, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with others in the organization.
- Proficient in various PC applications, including Microsoft products, database applications, accounting/financial applications and the overall ability to learn and use new systems.
