Educational Technology Specialist - UPMC Schools of Nursing

Description

UPMC is hiring an Educational Technology Specialist at Motor Square Garden, which will travel to the following 6 locations: Shadyside, Mercy, Hamot, Harrisburg, St. Margaret, and Jameson.

Purpose:
The Educational Technology Analyst provides second level support and technical assistance to maintain and support various aspects of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other technological applications related to the UPMC Schools of Nursing. The Analyst will intercept, research, troubleshoot, and respond to a variety of technical inquiries and issues from customers. Assists UPMC Schools of Nursing leaders, faculty and staff with departmental projects, developing/revising system processes and procedures, training administration, and in developing/implementing/testing technological applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the UPMC Schools of Nursing (SON) Learning Management System (LMS) Canvas and other educational systems through intercepting both staff and management technical questions and issues; triaging technical issues through research, troubleshooting, and evaluation; seeking resources when necessary to address and resolve the issues; and responds to issues in a timely manner.

  • Facilitate UPMC SON user management through the UPMC Identify Management System (IMS) for all faculty, staff, and students for all UPMC SON educational systems. Reconciles user accounts on a quarterly basis.

  • Manage UPMC SON Education System information security protocols and the UPMC SON Third Party Service Security Plan annual questionnaires.

  • Schedule learning events in the LMS for UPMC SON faculty as appropriate; maintain a comprehensive course catalog. Provide one-on-one support to various LMS users and contributors in effectively and efficiently navigating through the LMS and utilizing its functionality.

  • Assist UPMC SON faculty in designing, developing, and documenting processes, procedures, and learning aids for the effective and efficient use of the LMS and other learning-technology applications.

  • Assist UPMC SON faculty in administering computer-based training, including technical set-up of the learning environment; assisting learners through the login and navigation process; etc.

  • Track technical issues, report trends, and provide recommendations for improvement. Review training templates for accuracy and consistency as appropriate.

  • Track training-related data as assigned, such as registration statistics, cancellations, costs and revenues, etc. Provide technical support to other technological applications, such as web-based surveys, webinars, and web conferencing, to advance and improve the services of the UPMC SON.

  • Assist UPMC SON faculty and staff in developing, implementing, and/or testing technological applications that relate to or support the department's services.

  • Coordinate/compose communications that explain and identify the features, benefits, and best practices related to the LMS and other technological applications offered through UPMC SON.

  • Develop the capacity of faculty to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve student learning.

  • Articulate a clear instructional vision alongside the director with a school-wide focus on teaching and learning that is data-driven, standards-aligned and rooted in a belief that all students can achieve at high levels.

  • Foster collaboration and faculty leadership.

  • Assist other UPMC SON staff in managing projects as needed/assigned.

  • Master skills necessary to support responsibilities outlined in job description. Demonstrates growing knowledge and expertise related to LMS and supported processes. Demonstrates initiative to gain advanced knowledge and skills.

  • *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  • *Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Information Systems, Human Resources, or related field required and 1 year of experience working in an information systems, education or training environment required OR High School Diploma/GED and 3 years experience working in an information systems, education or training environment required.

  • Knowledge and experience working with an electronic Learning Management System is preferred.

  • Ability to collect and manage information, organize projects, and coordinate activities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel and Outlook.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
