Description

UPMC is hiring a full time Program Coordinator to support their Fertility Preservation Program at UPMC Magee Center for Reproduction! The UPMC Magee Center for Reproduction is a multidisciplinary center, which collaborates with Magee-Womens Research Institute, the Center for Fertility and Reproductive Endocrinology, the Men’s Health Center, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Hillman Cancer Center, and Magee-Womens Hospital gynecologic cancer and minimally invasive surgery teams. Our mission is to educate patients and physicians, provide access to comprehensive fertility preservation options, pioneer new technologies and translate them to the clinic, and train the next generation of fertility preservation experts.

The Program Coordinator is the first and most important point of contact for the patients and providers seeking fertility preservation advice and services; they do the initial intake and determine research study eligibility, consent participants, and coordinate fertility preservation and infertility research/clinical care services. They manage all research study protocols including IRB maintenance and modifications and perform research benchwork to support clinical research studies. They collect and record participant and patient data and maintain databases. The program coordinators are the face of the program and are critical to our outreach and education efforts locally, nationally, and internationally.

Hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, daylight hours. 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate fertility preservation patient care:Monitor Fertility Preservation phone line and email and direct patient flow Schedule and coordinate appointments for semen cryopreservationCoordinate surgery scheduling for testicular biopsy and oophorectomyRefer patients for embryo and oocyte freezing
  • Coordinate tissue shipping and processing from outside institutions:Maintain contact information for all sites approved to send UPMC testicular and ovarian tissue for processingEnsure that all necessary paperwork is received prior to tissue shipmentSchedule courier for tissue pickupProcess and freeze ovarian and testicular tissue, as needed Coordinate tissue shipment to long-term storage facilityCommunicate with all sites about outcomes and any issues that arise
  • Write and manage clinical research protocols: Screen and recruit patients for research protocolsCoordinate and/or perform patient counseling and informed consentCoordinate procedures with patients, physicians, laboratory staff and pathologyMaintain secure research patient recordsConduct annual follow up interviews with research patients
  • Maintain database of fertility preservation procedures (standard of care and research) to log progress for annual reporting, grant submission etc.
  • Maintain necessary regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Prepare education materials (brochures, websites, presentations) for providers and patients.
  • Provide superior customer service and patient care to assure that physician and patient needs are satisfied.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a clinical environment.

Prior healthcare experience preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34
